1. General names
Found only in Asia, the tree swift is known in CJV as a 'crested swift'. To indicate the idea of a 'crest', Chinese uses the term 凤头 meaning 'phoenix-head', Japanese uses カンムリ kanmuri (冠) meaning 'crown', and Vietnamese uses mào meaning 'crest'.
The Chinese are divided between those who would call the tree swift a 'tree swallow' and those who would call it a 'rain-swallow' (i.e. a swift).
