'A Cauldron Full of Hot Strong Love' (Book 6)
Celestina Warbeck is Mrs Weasley's favourite singer, a taste that is not shared by the other members of her family or Fleur Delacour. The Christmas that Scrimgeour came to seek out Harry's cooperation, the family was being subjected to Celestina's hearty rendition of 'A Cauldron Full of Hot Strong Love'. Partial lyrics are as follows:
English
A Cauldron Full of Hot Strong Love (Celestina Warbeck) Oh, come and stir my cauldron, |
Simplified Chinese (China)
《一锅火热的爱》(塞蒂娜・沃贝克) 哦,来搅搅我的这锅汤, |
"Yī guō huǒrè de ài" (Sàidìnà Wōbèikè) O, lái jiǎojiǎo wǒ de zhè-guō tāng, |
The Mainland translator has come up with a rhyme scheme (first, second, and fourth lines rhyme).
Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)
〈裝滿嗆辣愛情的大釜〉(瑟莉堤娜・華蓓) 喔,來攪拌我的大釜, |
"Zhuāngmǎn qiànglà àiqíng de dàguō" (Sèlìtínà Huábèi) Wo, lái jiǎobàn wǒ de dàfǔ, |
Japanese
「大鍋は灼熱の恋に溢れ」(セレスティナ・ワーベック) ああ、わたしの大鍋を混ぜてちょうだい |
"Ō-nabe wa shakunetsu no koi ni afure" (Seresutina Wābekku) Ā, watashi no ō-nabe o mazete chōdai |
The most interesting point in the Japanese is the use of women's language, e.g., ちょうだい chōdai 'please', now also used by men; あなた anata 'you'; the ね ne after chōdai; 強烈よ kyōretsu yo 'it's strong!', omitting だ da or です desu; するわ suru wa, ending with the feminine sentence particle わ wa.
